About the role
Bihak is a youth entrepreneurship and innovation platform that supports young people in turning ideas into real projects. We offer a complete ecosystem for young innovators, including a structured four-phase incubation program (Understand and Observe, Design, Build and Test, Make It Real), an AI assistant that guides participants through exercises and provides personalized coaching, a mentorship program connecting young entrepreneurs with experienced professionals, a Campus Club Leadership Training that equips student club leaders with entrepreneurship and leadership skills, sharing opportunities where participants and alumni present their projects and learn from each other, job and opportunity postings tailored to young talent, and a growing community of changemakers across the region.
We are looking for a motivated and community-driven individual to lead Bihak's operations on the ground in Burundi.
As Bihak Burundi Country Representative, you will be the face of Bihak in Burundi, responsible for growing our community, managing our digital presence, supporting local partners, and ensuring full compliance with local regulations. This is a hands-on, field-based role that requires someone who genuinely loves working with people and believes in the power of youth to change their communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
Platform and website management
Testing all features of the Bihak platform regularly, including user registration and login, team creation and management, the incubation program (all four phases: Understand and Observe, Design, Build and Test, Make It Real), exercise submissions and reviews, job postings and applications, the admin dashboard and reporting tools, email notifications, the application portal, and the sponsor and partner-facing pages.
Reporting bugs, usability issues, and improvement suggestions to the technical team.
Regulatory compliance
Researching and ensuring compliance with local laws applicable to nonprofit and social enterprise activities in Burundi.
Managing any required registrations, filings, or authorizations with local authorities.
Keeping documentation up to date and organized.
Partnerships and resource mobilization
Identifying and approaching potential local partners including universities, schools, NGOs, government agencies, and private sector actors.
Supporting grant writing, fundraising efforts, and sponsorship outreach.
Representing Bihak at local events, forums, and meetings.
Communications and social media
Managing Bihak Burundi's presence on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter).
Creating and scheduling content that highlights team stories, program updates, events, and impact.
Responding to inquiries, building an engaged online community, and growing our local audience.
Community engagement
Recruiting young people into the Bihak incubation program.
Organizing local meetups, info sessions, and workshops.
Building relationships with youth clubs, student associations, and community organizations.
Candidate profile
We are looking for a young, passionate, and self-driven individual with the following profile:
Age between 25 and 30 years old.
Holder of a university degree or currently enrolled in higher education. Any field is welcome.
Some experience in community work, youth organizations, clubs, or student associations is strongly valued. We are not looking for corporate experience — we want someone who has shown up for their community.
Comfortable using social media and digital tools. No advanced technical background required.
Based in or willing to relocate to Bujumbura, Burundi.
Fluent in Kirundi, English and French.
Little to no formal work experience is acceptable — full training will be provided by the Bihak team.
What we value in this person:
Transparency: you communicate openly, report accurately, and never hide problems.
Responsibility: you take ownership of your work and follow through on your commitments.
Hard work: you are willing to put in the effort, especially when it matters.
Self-determination: you do not wait to be told what to do — you see what needs to be done and you do it.
Additional information
Contract type: Fixed-term, one year, renewable based on performance.
Salary: 200,000 BIF per month.
Start date: As soon as possible.
Location: Bujumbura, Gitega, Burundi (field-based role).
Full onboarding and training provided by the Bihak team remotely and in person.
